In 1989 after a degree in Media Production and a post-grad in Stage Management Gary embarked on a career in stage and production management. Originally his work concentrated on repertory theatres, with seasons at the Watermill Theatre Newbury, Liverpool Everyman, Redgrave Theatre Farnham, Cheltenham Everyman, and Birmingham Rep main house. Tours included stage managing a tour of Japan with Othello, a UK tour of Wind in the Willows, a small-scale tour of You Are My Mother for Backchat Theatre Company, and two community tours of the midlands for Birmingham Rep.

Moving to London in 1997 he began work for AKT as Technical Co-ordinator and later freelance Production Manager, a conference and training company which uses drama to tackle work-based issues, and began his occasional website design work.

He returned to theatre production in 1999 concentrating on community and site-specific projects, and relocated to Birmingham. He worked extensively with OTTC as Production Manager on the site-specific A Plan to Build at Bicester Garrison and the community tour Tales of the Arabian Nights, as well as three community tours as Company Stage Manager.  Other work has included Technical Stage Manager on Hamlet and Production Manager on MacBeth, both at BMW's Mini factory in Oxford; an open-air production of Grimm Tales for Salisbury Playhouse; The Firebird and a community production of King for macproductions in Birmingham.

His new career in administration began in 2003 at two local children's homes before moving to The Play House, an arts educational charity based in Birmingham which runs two theatre-in-education companies and a variety of community projects. There he has been able to utilise both his theatre and administration experience, and is now General Manager of the organisation.

In this section you can look at his management and administrative experience, and a look at website design work. You can also look at his technical and production experience through venue-based, site-specific, touring or community projects, and event work.
